No More Rock Bottom: Waking Up and Taking Back My Life

I was born and raised in Beek in the Netherlands, although I only lived here until I was 11 years old. After that, I moved with my family to Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

My life was great before I started doing drugs. I was interested in a lot of things and I really had a big entrepreneur mindset. I was always busy with ideas for making my own company. I had a lot of friends but mostly I loved spending time with my brother and little brother. I went to school and I was very interested in school as well.

One of the happiest moments in my life that I can remember before using drugs was going on a holiday with my parents to the USA. We went to a lot of places on the West Coast and my favorite part of the holiday was visiting Alcatraz.

I first started using drugs when I was around 12 or 13 years old. I started using drugs because I wanted to make friends in my new school and the people in my class were smoking weed so I also started doing it to fit in and to be liked by them.

Drugs affected my life big time. Especially when I started using more heavier drugs like cocaine and ketamine. I could not focus on my school work that I had and I barely got my diploma from school. I was also always getting into trouble with the law and with schools because of my drug use. I was becoming this disrespectful guy. My relationships with my family got impacted pretty heavily until the point where they did not want any contact with me anymore.

What led me to come to Narconon is very simple, I already did several treatment programs before Narconon and at every other program I was given medication and I was really sick and tired of this. I had a lot of negative side effects from the medication.

My psychologist found Narconon on the internet and she told me to give them a call. She actually found Narconon via a blog article about how cocaine affects a person’s character.

My arrival was good. I had contact every day for a week before my arrival with a staff member from the center so I felt comfortable with my arrival. What comforted me more about Narconon Europe is that the staff truly cared about me and were interested in me as a person. They did not make me feel like a number but as an actual person.

Being able to confront life, not everything will go how I want it to go and I need to be able to confront that. That is by far my biggest win. Other wins are that I regained so many abilities like I can actually listen to what another person is saying to me. Also, my concentration level and happiness have gone up so much. I am much calmer and can think clearly.

My graduation was a very nice and proud moment. I was looking forward to it a lot. Normally I would be very nervous in that sort of situation but now I confronted it and it was a very memorable moment for me. I am prouder of myself for this graduation than graduating from University.

I am looking forward to life and being able to start my own family. I am building new, healthy relationships.

My proudest accomplishment now is that I am currently more than 1 year clean. I was unable to do this when I was younger.

My relationship with my family has much improved and they are proud of me. Sadly I still don’t have any contact with my younger brother who does not want it. But I accept and confront it. The rest of my family is very proud and happy that I am doing well now.

“My favorite thing about being drug free is for sure waking up in the morning not craving drugs. Going to bed and actually sleeping. Breathing in fresh air and enjoying life like never before. My life has completely changed since I started the Narconon program.”

My favorite thing about being drug free is for sure waking up in the morning not craving drugs. Going to bed and actually sleeping. Breathing in fresh air and enjoying life like never before. My life has completely changed since I started the Narconon program. I work now as a staff member in Narconon Europe and I can help other people go through the same path as I did. And it is really a blessing to see the results.

My advice is to find a good group around you, find a new hobby and healthy activities, surround yourself with the right people, set goals in your life and go after these goals. This gives you something to focus on and be busy with.
